The Situation

A Local Provider vs. National Ad Budgets.

AW Broadband sells internet in Amarillo against companies whose marketing budgets exceed AW's entire revenue. In that fight, the search results page is the one venue where a local provider can win outright: nobody chooses an ISP without searching first, and the shelf space at the top is earned, not bought. The assignment was simple to state and long to execute: own the searches that sell internet in this market, and hold them.

What We Did

The Whole System, Compounding.

Local SEO built the ranking foundation: the site content, the locally relevant links, and the Google Business Profile work feeding the map pack. Technical SEO kept the machine crawlable and fast. Then, starting in 2024, the same foundation was pointed at a second target: AI search visibility, structuring the content and entity signals that AI engines cite when they answer "internet in Amarillo."

That's the part worth underlining: the AI results didn't require starting over. The same authority that ranks on Google is what AI engines cite, built once, earning twice.

About That Citation Number

418 in May. 94 in July. We're Publishing Both.

Most agencies would print the 418 and stop. Here's the whole line instead: citations climbed from zero in August 2024, crossed 400 in April 2026, peaked at 418 in May, and sit at 94 today.

We publish the drop for three reasons. It's true, and a number you can verify in the same tool we use is worth more than a number you have to take on faith. It's normal, because AI citation counts swing hard month to month as engines change how they source answers, and anyone showing you a smooth upward line is showing you a chart, not a measurement. And it's the entire argument for measuring monthly rather than annually: we knew the week it moved, which is the only way to respond to it.

What hasn't moved: the #1 ranking, held for three years running, and the 3,649 calls the Google profile produced in six months. The traditional search foundation is the stable asset. AI visibility is the volatile layer built on top of it, which is precisely why we sell them together and report them separately.

Why It Holds

Three Years at #1 Isn't a Trick. It's Maintenance.

Anyone can spike a ranking; the graveyard of month-three case studies proves it. Holding #1 for three years against nationally funded competitors means the work never stopped: content refreshed, profile maintained, technical health watched, and, when AI search arrived, the visibility war extended to the new front before competitors knew there was one. Compounding is the product. The monthly report is how the client watches it happen.
